This past year has been one of rapid change, not only in how we accomplish our work but also within our organizational structures, priorities, and leadership. As many of us transition from working remotely back into campus and office life, we must navigate the new landscape with a desire to learn and adapt. The SUNY Center for Professional Development, located within the Portfolio of the SUNY Office of the Provost, was happy to welcome Provost-in-Charge Dr. Shadi Sandvik to her post in December 2020. Dr. Sandvik recognized that due to the rapidly changing environment in which we work, internal communication is even more important than ever. Dr. Sandvik proposed a “Summer Learning Series” for SUNY System Administration staff that was designed to impact and improve our knowledge and connections between the innovative initiatives being facilitated and led by SUNY staff. The Provost’s Summer Learning Series kicked off on May 4th and runs every Tuesday and Thursday throughout the Summer. System Administration staff gather over the lunch hour to learn about all that is happening within our units, and the series has helped us to connect as individuals and teams. The series has created that important informal learning structure – where we can can say “I know which of my colleagues to contact about that!” The SUNY CPD facilitates and supports the Provost's Summer Series and is now offering the sessions to be viewed widely by others throughout the System. Visit the CPD YouTube Channel Playlist entitled “Provost Summer Learning Series” or view the list directly here. You’ll learn about SUNY’s Prison Education, Online Learning, International Learning, Press, Data, Student Mobility, and more. Subscribe to our channel- videos will continue to be added over the month of August. - Lisa Raposo, Interim Director |
